Server randomly becomes unreachable "Site Can't be Reached" during use

Randomly, my server can't be accessed remotely by a browser, sometimes in the middle of me using it, and I don't know why

I have a dedicated server machine on the same network as all my other devices. Most of the time I don't have a problem accessing my server. I turn the server on, I connect to it from my phone or my laptop - easy peasy. But sometimes, especially at night I'm noticing, the server becomes unreachable. Other times it'll be really really slow, even if no one else is on my network. I'll literally be in the middle of watching a tv show and half way through the episode the server will become unreachable.  The episode will pause, when I try to refresh the page it does nothing, and if I try to access the server through a different tab I get a "Site can't be reached" message on the browser. It's not just my laptop either, I also can't access the server through my phone.

So then I go to the server machine to dick around with it, but strangely, on the server machine itself I can load up the server on a browser just fine.

Yes my laptop and my server are on the same network, as far I know nothing changed. Or should have changed. It just suddenly stops being able to receive connections from my devices. It will usually work fine again in the morning without me touching it. Is my ISP fucking with me or what?

Restarting the server, or restarting the machine the server is on does nothing. I have no idea to read the logs, but they don't seem to show anything out of the ordinary.

NEVERMIND I FIGURED IT OUT OMG. Normally I get into Jellyfin by typing 10.0.0.84:8096, but I realized that wasn't even working on my server computer when I do that in the browser. I'm reaching it on the server computer by right clicking the icon in the tray and hitting "open server".

So then I just typed the IPV4 address with 8096 and then it worked. I have no idea why 10.0.0.84 sometimes does and doesn't work, but I'm just happy I figured it out.

Ugh, yeah — nothing’s more annoying than your server ghosting you mid-show. Since it works locally but flakes out on your phone/laptop, the problem probably isn’t the server itself. More likely something in your network is dozing off or getting weird at night.

Could be power-saving settings on your router or devices messing with the connection. Some routers go into “night mode” or have energy-saving features that throttle local traffic after hours. Also worth checking if you're using a .local address — those can drop when devices sleep. Try hitting the server by IP instead of name, and see if it still cuts out. You can also test by plugging your laptop directly into the router via Ethernet to rule out Wi-Fi hocus pocus.

No need to blame your ISP — this feels like a local thing.
