Hi everyone.
This is a follow up to another post that was partially solved. Thanks to everyone (tmsrxzar especially) for helping with that.
I am trying to solve an issue with Roku not loading movie poster images for Jellyfin. I have been searching forums high and low for a fix that I can duplicate but so far I haven't found one. The movie and collection poster images are not loading properly. It starts with just leaving a blank card on half or more movies. It will show the title on the card but no image. Then if I scroll down and back up again some of the cards will also disappear just leaving a blank space. It ONLY does this on my roku smart TVs. It works just fine if I access Jellyfin through my Qnap app on my browser.
Please bare with me if I do not put all the info needed to assess my problem or if I have to ask a lot of follow questions as I am a total novice at this. I honestly think I got in way over my head trying to set up a NAS for a home media server. All I want to do is backup my movies and be able to stream them over my ethernet and wifi so I don't have to pay Amazon $4.99 every time I want to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off in the middle of the night with out getting up to fetch my dvd player and the disc to drag upstairs and plug in. IMHO this tech isn't really ready for Joe Schmoe's like me as a turn key, just plug it in and go kind of set up.
So I am using Jellyfin on a QNAP TS-464-8G-US with 2 20TB Exos drives. I just access my Qnap and Jellyfin with a macbook pro through my Chrome browser for getting under the hood. Otherwise I watch the movies through the Jellyfin Roku app on the TV. Very basic.
So far I have tried:
Rescanning and replacing all my metadata
Made sure the movies are identified by IMDB number
Enabled the make metadata NFO then replaced it all again
Installed fanart plugin
Cleared my Roku cache
Deleted and reinstalled Jellyfin app
Making sure Roku and Jellyfin are both on the newest update
Signing out of and restarting my Roku
Swearing and Cursing
Eating cheesecake and swearing some more
I've read a crap ton of posts now with people talking about this same problem but it all seems to be problems that don't exactly apply to me or just come down to Roku being a crap system for Jellyfin. Before I throw down more cash for a firestick just to trouble try it I wanted to see if anyone else here has seen this or knows a fix. And YES. Before you bring it up I have scoured Roku's trouble shooting forums and the one on Reddit with zero mentions of Jellyfin anywhere on it.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.
