Bulk selection in collections

Is there any reason why multi-selections in collections don't allow you to remove items from that collection? When I long-press to select multiple titles within that collection, the "three dots" menu does not contain any relevant options to interact with the files. Additionally, "select all" does NOT work.

multiselect is just the worst
it could be considered a bug
it could also be not currently possible due to limitations of the API
