This log is from February 23. Do you have a more recent log?

That's the only item in my config/log folder. log_20250223

And if it matters, I'm running this in a Synology container, which I restarted yesterday.

Where are you looking for log files? On your PC? Or on the NAS?

    On the NAS... docker/jellyfin

I've never really paid attention to the file explorer's Modified Date, but Windows and Synology's both say 2/22 for everything.

My metadata folder has always been empty, even though I'm currently at 14.1% for generating trickplay files. I had noticed that before, but again... getting adjusted to everything else, so just assumed I was misunderstanding something.

I went to every main folder on the NAS just now and searched for 'jellyfin' just to make sure it was installed somewhere else, but nothing. I'm attaching screenshots of my container info and config folder

One problem I see is that you did not provide a volume for /config or /cache. Which means that your Jellyfin data could be purged when you upgrade Jellyfin.

But that doesn't explain why there aren't any new logs.

Unless your server time is completely off.

So, I get that we're now venturing outside of Jellyfin territory, but do you mind if I ask how you determine that lack of volume for config & cache? Is that because there weren't entries under the Volume heading where the media folders are listed? I know in Synology we can no longer make changes to a container without either exporting or creating a new one, but is this something I could fix via portainer, which I do have installed? Because it's showing those mapped to my @docker directory currently.

And my times in Regional Settings in the Synology Control Panel are correct. Showing the correct time zone and current time.

Correct. It doesn't explicitly state there is a volume. Having said that, maybe Synology is handling that for you. I don't have a Synology NAS so I can't say for certain.

I'd recommend using plain docker over portainer, if you do go that route. Personally, I recommend moving away from NAS "store" apps if that app has a docker container available. One of the other mods wrote a guide for setting up Jellyfin as a docker container in DSM.

Jellyfin is installed as a container, not from a store. But a recent change in Synology's container managements prevents changes after the container has been created. I see in the link provided that /config and /cache are mapped in the set up, which I know wasn't the case in the (different) instructions I used to install. Unless I'm missing it, Synology's Container Manager doesn't show me where they're mapped, but after using portainer to install something else, I saw that it provides a ton of information I can't see in Synology's Container Manager. I think it's my only option to edit now, as well... if that can be done to correct those issues.

I'm mainly just a Windows and database troubleshooting/management guy and I've never been a terminal/command or anything with text fella because, if you don't have the time for actual instruction (which I unfortunately don't usually), it's all a bunch of 'do this' with no explanation of what's happening or why you're doing it.

My thought now is that my /config and /cache folders' initial contents were populated when I first installed, but since they weren't mapped, they were placed in the @docker folder, which I can apparently only enter via SSH.

Ok... I got the logs form the 25th (when you asked) and the 26th, when I replied. Can I PM the links to you. I was setting up and looking at personal photo files with names, etc.
