    likely... ?

if ffmpeg were missing there would be no ffmpeg log instead of a log from ffmpeg stating it couldn't open the video device
if ffmpeg were missing in ubuntu it would be apt install jellyfin-ffmpeg5 not download from github (same in or out of docker)
    and linux doesn't use .exe

I don't know you nor your level of knowledge, but I do know my own level of knowledge on this subject, which is why I know I'm least likely to be right 😅 no need to feel attacked by my choice of words Smiling-face

I guess that means that in my own case, ffmpeg.exe was still there but had been corrupted somehow, because I was still getting ffmpeg errors when playing my content.

The good news is that, after updating my graphics driver, it now plays to my tablet just fine with hardware transcoding. Some other files that refused to play in a similar manner on my TV before now play fine. The bad news is that it still doesn't play on my TV and still doesn't produce any useful ffmpeg logs or other errors.

I just checked on the Jellyfin Roku TV app: 'attempt direct play before falling back to transcoding' is enabled for HEVC, H.264, and MPEG-4. The file I'm trying to play is mp4.

Yes, Plex is running on the same server, but without hardware transcoding enabled (free hardware transcoding is the entire reason I'm transitioning from Plex to Jellyfin). That seems like the primary difference to me.

Here are some updated logs in case anything has changed with the GPU update: https://00.yt/2r

The SERVER side log looks fine. I wish the clients produced logs (only the desktop Jellyfin Media Player does).

Can you share a screenshot of your playback dashboard?

Yeah, unfortunately the client's error isn't exactly descriptive. The Roku TV app as a whole could use a bit more polishing if you ask me.

I forgot to ask which model Roku you have.

I'm using a Hisense TV model 65R6+ with Roku OS software version 12.5.0. Not sure if that software version corresponds to a generalized Roku TV OS or something more specific to the TV. Let me know if you need or want any other information.

So... I'm thinking I should file a bug report for the client app.
