    Playlist location confusion

    How to create a Playlist in Music so I can actually access it from mobile?

    On the web interface, I created a playlist. Then I spend a good ten minutes searching that playlist, because it wasn't showing up in the Playlists tab. Only then did I notice that there now is a new media library called „Playlists“, where this playlist can be found. That's hella confusing.

    Anyway, I found the playlist. So now what? I can't access this playlist from anywhere apart from the web interface. I looked in both Swiftfin and Finamp. Neither shows this „Playlists“ media library. I do have the Playlists tab in Music, but the playlist does not show up there.

    How do I move the playlist from its own media library into the Music library, so that I can access it from mobile?

    Did you actually add anything to the playlist, or just create an empty playlist?

    I believe playlists only appear in the library view once they have content. Both of my music libraries have playlists populated when selecting the "Playlists" tab inside of the library. Also make sure you're on the latest version (10.8.12) as there was a bug in 10.8.11 that prevented them from appearing in some cases.

    Yes, I created the playlist via the menu of a song with Add to Playlist -> New, and added several other songs to it.

    NixOS doesn't have 10.8.12 yet, so I'll wait for that to manifest and try again.

    If you are still on 10.8.11 this is a known bug.
