Jellyfin Server: 10.10.7
Jellyfin Client: Roku Client 3.0.10
TV: Onn 100068378
Issue: My TV is HDR10 compatible, but not Dolby Vision compatible. In the past, my Roku Jellyfin client was able to take DoVi profile 8.1 content and fallback to HDR10 to DirectPlay as intended. In the past year, I have found those same MKV files in my library that previously worked are now Transcoding with "VideoRangeTypeNotSupported". A few months ago I wrote a post on this issue and was advised to remove DoVi from the MKV with FFMPEG, which does work as a workaround.
Is this issue a bug with the Roku client or an issue with the jellyfin server side of things? I know Jellyfin at one time did support these files for DirectPlay, and I love to be able to playback my library without having to convert everything from DoVi to HDR10. Is this something I should submit as an issue to the Jellyfin Roku client github? Or would this be on the jellyfin server github? Fixing this would really make my watching experience much more seamless, as I used to just upload the file to Jellyfin and then watch on my TV, but now I need to go through the hoops of converting through FFMPEG before I am able to play. Not a massive deal, but it has become annoying over the past few months of doing it weekly. I am sure this would simplify the Jellyfin experience for other folks on Roku.
