About a year and a half ago I dumped plex and windows in favor of Jellyfin and Linux mint. It was great for a few months. Eventually I started getting warnings on my client that I needed to upgrade the JF server to the latest version. When I tried to upgrade the server on Mint it was a absolute NIGHTMARE. I spent a full weekend trying to make it work. I am not a linux expert but I am pretty tech savy. I don't recall the exact errors I ran into but eventually I gave up and re-imaged my drive with Windows and installed JF server there. It has been easy to upgrade the server ever since. But it sucks having to run my server on a spyware ad delivery service disguised as an OS. I really want to go back to Linux.

What is the best and easiest distro to run and upgrade JF server please? I was maybe considering this time using an Ubuntu derivative and installing JF server from flathub. Maybe it would be easier to upgrade the server via flatpacks? I am not sure. Would love some advise.

    Thanks!!

Debian and Ubuntu are likely to treat you well. If you use Docker at all, upgrades and migrations are a breeze on that front.
