New to using JellyFin and trying to make the migration from years of using Plex. One of the features I can't seem to replicate with JellyFin is the ability to ignore or select specific file types in a media folder. Either via whitelist or blacklist. Is there a way to do that?

The jellyfin way to do similar things is to add a .ignore file into the folder you want to ignore to ignore that entire folder rather than filter by suffix.

Okay, and there is a similar method with Plex, however the details of that .ignore file can be edited to include specific file extensions to ignore.
With JellyFin is it all or nothing in a given folder when it comes to ignoring files?

All or nothing for the entire directory it is in.

Dang, that's what I was afraid of. The #snapshot files Synology NAS units use for backup/security cause media files in that folder to show up in JellyFin media library scans redundantly. Like many many times. And since those #snapshot files are in every directory, it means I cannot use JellyFin. With Plex the ignore file can be "edited"/fine-tuned to ignore specific file extensions or types and I have it setup to ignore the #snapshot files.

Does it create a mutable "#snapshot" folder? If so, you could add the .ignore file to that folder. Also, making the snapshot not visible and rescanning your media might work.

OOOOOhhhh! That right there might be the answer to my issue! Never noticed that setting before! I was actually surprised I couldn't find any other posts around the net with the same problem which indicated to me I was missing some simple fix! I will try that and report back, thank you!
