Running jellyfin 10.9.8 on docker in synology.
Have shows that is 4 folders deep example
    media/Homemovie/Home Movies/8mm Home DVD/Season 01/home dvd movies S01E01.m4v
library is created using path media/Homemovie/Home Movies/8mm Home DVD
Library is using show and movie option (have also tried movies and same result)
added to that library another path
    media/home movies/Home Movies/grampa slides/ (3 video files here)

Made user that can only see this library

When trying to access library can see
home movies icon > click > 8mm Home DVD > when click to display movies nothing shows and get spinning wheel

movies from Grampa slides shows and plays.

The reason for this is because I have other family movies in media/Homemovies/Home Movies/ that I need to not show in this library but use in a different library.

If I check the box for "enable access to all libraries" then all shows show up in that library and work.

My work around is copying those files to its own folder with media/home movies/familymovies/8mm Home DVD/season 01/home dvd movies S01E01.m4v
and setting the library to path media/home movies/familymovies

This is 2 folders with same file.

Wondering if there is a way to have just 1 main folder and why it works if i select the enable access to all libraries.

to add first thumbnail is the work around. 2nd one i have is how i have the library paths when it doesn't work unless allow all libraries is selected.
3rd is it working when all libraries are selected.
4 and 5 are going to library when not working
6 is what i get after selecting 8mm on 5th thumb nail. 2 videos camper and California if clicked on will work.

Are you using the "mixed movies and shows" library type? This library type is not well supported.
I would recommend to stick to either shows or movies and to make collections if you need to merge the two.

This is probably the issue. From what I read previously, you're adding the "show" name as "Season 01". With your "work around", you're linking the familymovies folder as the actual folder to use for the library. Then in there, you have an actual show name "8mm Home DVD" with it's own Season 01 inside of it.

I would suggest you look at the documentation and make sure your files are sorted as close as possible to how it's described:

I am using mixed movies and shows just because some have movies where others since it was multiple dvd put it as a show.
I will look at the file structure. this is from the shows document
    Shows
    ├── Series Name A (2010)
    │  ├── Season 00
    │  │  ├── Some Special.mkv
    │  │  ├── Series Name A S00E01.mkv
    │  │  └── Series Name A S00E02.mkv

When it not working here is the structure is same format
    media
    ├── Homemovie
           ├── Home Movies
├── 8mm Home DVD (library pointed here)
                  │  ├── Season 01
                  │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E01.m4v
                  │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v
                  │  │  └── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v

    When working this is
    media
    ├── Familymovies (library pointed here)
            ├── 8mm Home DVD
            │  ├── Season 01
            │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E01.m4v
            │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v
            │  │  └── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v

I don't understand why the not working one will work if I check the box enable access to all libraries then it works.
doing more testing. It will work if all libraries are selected and don't just use the "enable access to all libraries"
When only that library is selected it doesn't work again.

    Found this also works
    I add 8mm Home DVD
I have another library that has all home movies with library pointing to Homemovie
Then the 8mm Home DVD library works.

Doesn't work if i add 8mm library and the familymovies then 8mm one doesn't work.

    Found also works
Pointing docker to media/Homemovie/Home Movies and putting as /Homemovie
    then using path

     Homemovies
├── 8mm Home DVD (library pointed here)
     │  ├── Season 01
     │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E01.m4v
     │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v
     │  │  └── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v

Am I interpreting your statement correctly that you have the same folder added to multiple libraries?

    Yes in a way.
main user has access to all home videos
2nd user I only want access to certain videos in home videos.
    file format
    media
    ├── Homemovie
├── Home Movies (library #1 pointed here)
           │      ├── 8mm Home DVD (library #2 pointed here)
           │      │  ├── Season 01
           │      │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E01.m4v
           │      │  │  ├── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v
           │      │  │  └── 8mm Home DVD S01E02.m4v
           │      │
           │      ├── Class project video.m4v
(more videos then this but this is an example)

primary user can see all home videos. uses library #1

Secondary user I want to only see library #2 which will only show 8mm Home DVD

The best solution I found was pointing container to the Home Movies folder bypassing the homemovie folder and naming it accordingly. If not I found I would have to make a copy of the video files that takes double the space.
I just hope it doesn't break though.
attached is the file format of container. before only had /media but added in the homemovie. Things are working now but I didn't know if it was suppose to work the other way and something was wrong.

That's a problem. Possibly THE problem. You can't have a folder be in more than library. Unless you use symlinks.

Jellyfin will ignore symlinks for files, but will follow symlinks for folders. And gets around the "can't have a folder in more than library" issue.

Keep library #1 as is. But create a new folder under /Homemovie and create a bunch of symlinks to the folders you want library #2 to see. Point library #2 to this folder of symlinks.

Okay thank you for the information.
If you can is there more information on using symlinks for synology? Tried looking and seems SSH is the way it can be done. Is there another way?

Synology does not provide a way to access the system shell other than through SSH.
