I have gotten my gpu working in jellyfin. So I can scale movies down from 4k to 1080p absolutely fine.
The issue comes when I try to play anything HDR. I could get the movie to play one single time messing around with the settings at its regular 4k HDR but not whilst tone mapping or playing at a lower quality. Either way I feel like waiting 3-5 minutes for a 1 minute movie to buffer doesnt sound right to me. I know the quality I am trying to play back is high but 3050 should handle the single stream no problem!
I am trying to do this from an nvidia rtx 3050 paired with a ryzen 3700x and 64GB of ECC.
The transcodes are running from NVME cache but the movie itself from a slower hard drive which still manages about 100MBps so should be fast enough. It buffers forever or only plays at the original quality after a long buffer.
