    Hi,

I am trying to link Jellyfin to a bunch of devices streaming tv.
I got it to kinda work in that ocasionally the streams do kindanstream.  The streams  are h265 720p at 20 hz. TS with http.
A couple things.  I have seen m3u samples files and they have a lot of tech info like data rates on them, for mine I don't.  Do I need that. Isn't that part of the rtp negotiations?

Also found that the streams have to be http and TS.

Also does jellyfin proxy the stream or does it just forward the link to the client for it to connect much like a Chromecast .
In that case, which open source streaming server is good to couple with jellyfin, other than twitch, YouTube, etc.    something I can host
    Owncast?

    Thanks.

If you have m3u file example with an explanation of the fields I should include, I would love that.  I don't know if I am doing this right for my goal of about 20 live streams.

    Thanks,

If the Jellyfin client can direct play the M3U stream, the client will directly connect to the source and bypass the server. If the client cannot play the stream as is, the server will connect and transcode/remux the stream, then the client connects to the server to receive the transcode/remux.

If you NEED your server to be the device that connects to the M3U stream, there is a setting to force transcoding of live TV which will force all clients to connect to the server for live TV.

Dashboard > Users > Select a user. In the first tab under "Media playback" check "Force transcoding of remote media sources such as Live TV". You have to do this for each user.

Owncast is the only self-hosted casting application I am aware of, but I have never used it myself.
