I've recently discovered Jellyfin and so far I'm finding it great but I've a couple of questions of how I should organise animation and anime.

Currently I've been storing them on my NAS in two main folders named "Animation" and "Anime". I wasn't making any distinction if there were TV series, films of OVA's. This seems to be causing a few issues is the being discovered and so far my folders in Jellyfin appear to be missing some and as there ay being indexed by Shows this also stopping the films from showing.

How do people organise theirs? Do you put the films in with your films and the TV series and OVA's in with your Shows? Or do you do something different?

    This would be my approach:
I would make a mixed TV & Movie library called Anime. Mixed libraries are a little wonky & usually not recommended & I am not sure if they will be available in the next major Jellyfin release.
Because Anime or Cartoons have TV series, short films & feature films they are hard to keep in one library. A mixed library should have no problem getting the metadata for the short & feature films but struggle to identify TV series when first added. I have had success adding series to mixed libraries by first adding them to my regular TV series library to get the initial metadata & later moving them from the regular TV series library into my mixed library. The series will then continue to update properly as new episodes are added. This might only work if you have chosen to keep the metadata (NFO) file with the media for that library. I have not tried it without doing this. Make sure you follow the correct file naming & folder structure for episodes & movies. Also make sure that you have installed the proper metadata plugins.

    Hope this helps,
    JJ
