Since discovering Jellyfin, I've installed it on my Synology DS1522+ NAS to try it out and see if I like it. So far, I'm really enjoying what it offers but the performance is a be sluggish at times.
I've noticed that when going into a library on my LG TV using its native client in can take a while to populate the thumbnails of each TV series or Film making the experience a bit less smooth than I would want. I also notice that it has a bit of difficulty playing back some files, Not getting any sound of on some of the larger 4K files it locks up the playback for several seconds before playing a few seconds and then it locks up again.
I've also just replace my main desktop PC so have a NUC Phantom Canyon (NUC11PHKi7C) laying around doing nothing.
So would using the NUC as a Jellyfin server be a more performant solution than using the NAS? I'd still leave the videos on the NAS.
