I've been running this process straight through since...
I'm now at about 96 hours and 42.6% with a config dir size of 60 GB. Okay, maybe "days" was optimistic...weeks? I'm not complaining at all, just sharing information. I did not use the plugin and this has not affected any usage, even during "high-traffic" periods where multiple transcodes are taking place simultaneously. Plus I'm still using my A380 (av1_qsv) and my CPU (libsvtav1) to encode in the background. No hiccups, no issues with performance on any of my 35+ microservices.
We're focused on TIME, and it sure takes a LOT of that, but to me this speaks to the nature of Trickplay as a true background task that shouldn't present issues to continued usage.
