Hi everyone. I'm very new to all this, so please bear with me.

I'm trying to connect to Jellyfin with my iPhone over the local network, but it can't find the server. I've tried both the Jellyfin app and the Swiftfin app.

I'm running Jellyfin server on Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon. I can access the dashboard from a web browser on this computer.

    I have allowed 8096, 1900, and 7359 in ufw.

I also have mullvad VPN running on both the iPhone and Mint, but I wouldn't expect that to affect the local network, right?

If anyone could please help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

Do you have a static IP assigned? And/or do you know the IP of the server?

I have now assigned a static IP, but I can no longer access the dashboard via http://[static IP]:8096, but I can via localhost:8096

Did you bind Jellyfin to your VPN IP? Or LAN IP?

I believe it is bound to the LAN IP

What EXACTLY are you typing into your iPhone? I recall another user with a similar issue. Something about how iOS retries IPs. If the first fails, all subsequent variations our app will retry will fail.

You must type ENTIRE address, including port and protocol.

    http://192.168.1.3:8096

Replace with your actual LAN IP.

Yes, that is exactly how I type it. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, but that has not worked either.
