Signed up just to say thanks for the new version 3.0. It looks great, and works great on my up-to-date server. It resolved a few annoying bugs I had been experiencing since 2.3.0/2.3.1 with images not displaying and feels faster.
I have had to sideload the Roku app before in the past to avoid bugs, it's not that difficult, and should get anyone with issues due to an old server back on their feet. ![]()

Is there a way of getting my Roku app working again without having to update my Jellyfin server? I am maxed out on the Jellyfin build that my computer will support and cant just go out and buy a new computer. Everything was working perfectly fine for my purposes yesterday and now its not.

The forced update to the Roku app. The app is unusable and crashes. I cant update my computer anymore, its maxed out on the supported operating system and I cant update my Jellyfin server anymore because the more current ones are not supported on the latest operating system my computer can handle. Long story short, everything worked fine yesterday and now it does not. I cant afford a new computer and I didn't want to spend my entire Saturday trying to find a work around. I wish there was a way to not have these updates forced. I'm not a computer tech, It causes some of us a lot of distress trying to figure stuff they already had working, and working well for their purposes. I know you guys are doing the best you can but this is extremely frustrating. Is there a streaming device like Roku that doesn't force updates so I can avoid all this in the future? I just want the stuff that works to be left alone. I dont need or care about all the added bells and whistles and I dont want to have to replace otherwise perfectly fine working systems.

The directions on the (recently renamed) jellyfin-roku-legacy github project describe in detail how to do it. Follow the steps to put the Roku into developer mode, set a password, then download a build from the legacy repository (the build for 2.3.1 is the file in the 'Artifacts' section at the bottom of that page, but if you want an earlier version you can get that too) and go to the Roku's IP in a web browser and upload/install the build you downloaded from github. It's not ideal, especially if you have other non-technical users with Rokus you don't control, but it should get you going. Side note to whoever maintains the jelly-roku-legacy repository, the "Download the latest build" link in the "Beta Test" section should perhaps be updated to point to the jellyfin-roku-legacy repo, not jellyfin-roku. ![]()

FREAKING THANK YOU! Now a perfectly fine system is completely useless unless I buy a new computer. F-ing hell. I hate technology. We are working on a solution for those with older servers.

Now it's all a big bunch of videos sorted by names. It's horrible. Is there a way to display with folders on thee Roku client, like it used to be... until yesterday? Thanks. Hi 1hitsong, For example on Android, Jellyfin displays the videos stored on the server within folders, see in the screenshot attached, all fruits basket episodes are located in the fruits basket folder. ![]() It used to be the same on Jellyfin on Roku, but version 3.0 seems to have removed this functionality. Now all files from all folders are all displayed displayed. It's a huge mess. You can search by filename, but it is very inconvenient.

For those running on older Jellyfin servers and are not able to upgrade, there will be a Jellyfin Legacy App (2.3.1) available on the Roku store starting Tuesday, Apr 1, 2025 10:00 AM PT
