Mine's been running perfectly for nearly a month. I'm a bit tempted to switch my server to one of these, but my arc 380 sits comfortably inside my other server and I'd hate retooling my main JF instance anyway. Thank you very much. I did some tests now for the last 4 weeks with the Mini PC and it's running like a charm. In the first week i tried out umbrelOS which was fun to play with but since i couldn't get my Synology NAS as a proper Drive in Jellyfin i had to switch back to Windows. Which im now running Jellyfin on and for my usecase it does it's job perfectly. I didn't check for any spyware etc. but I often heared that there is some stuff on those mini PCs and also read in the reviews that that was the case so be careful and format/ reinstall the whole System.

Hello, as this thread is about ideal hardware for Jellyfin, I will try to ask here.
My server running fine so far, I am focused now on clients hardware. Windows and Android (phone/tablet) is easy and so far working fine with native apps. For TV I bought Fire Stick 4k Max 6E (2024) but here with Jellyfin for AndroidTV it showed up there is a bug/issue with exoplayer, preventing me to correctly display many movies from library. Although there is a workaround to force encoding, I would be happy to run Direct Mode in full quality, same way as for Windows and Android client. Searching now best HW/client for TV. Should I rather use some NUC device with Windows, or would it be a good idea to give a try to some "TV oriented" device like Zidoo etc.? NUC might be more universal, still I am not sure about power/quality for my scenario and about comfort while need to utilize keyboard/mouse to browse/run/maximize/seeking/control movies. Any hints please? Recommendations for some best comfort combination? Although not big issues for me, I need some very user-friendly solution for the rest of my non-technical family. Thank you.

Anyone on my server that can't get or that has issues with things playing on tv app have been told to buy a Roku Express 4k | Multimedia player 4K HDR | Roku CA No issues with them from 6 people using them.

If I understand properly, your 6 people are allowed for Direct stream only and using Roku they are able to play anything from your server including problematic Dolby Vision 7.x etc. which are buggy under AndroidTV app its exoplayer. It looks like Roku is not using problematic AndroidTV Jellyfin app. Wonderful. I just checked their website and products, Roku Streaming Stick or Roku Ultra with 4k, HDR, Dolby Vision sounds promissing to me. I will read some reviews and probably will give it a try. Thanks!

One person bought the non 4k stick and it transcodes some files for them, the 4k ones direct play fine.

Oh dear, I simply hate how everyone still including only useless 100Mbit ethernet if ethernet included at all.
Are the vendors such stupid or what? Very nice they included Wifi 6 which is much faster than 100Mbit ethernet, but why the hell they didnt start to automatically include at least 1Gbit ethernet by default many years ago? 100mbit fast ethernet is a big limitation these days, completely useless for me. Having the same issue with Chromecast and also my 1y old highend TV. Looks like using the brain is sometimes very difficult. Otherwise very nice device it looks. Now I need to connect all these static devices around TV + TV itself to my home Wifi7, unnecessarily overloading one of my home APs. Although 10Gbit ethernet around house and plenty switchports free. Could you please remember the exact DV format which was not working for you properly? Under Fire Stick 4k Max plenty of movies are running fine, still plenty of movies dont. It would be nightmare to manually check/sort out to get some list of problematic movies for remake. And also not happy to lose quality while doing some remux only to suit TV stick although running fine under other clients...

I would guess the DV media was exclusively DolbyVision without HDR/10/+ fallback. If the DV profile is incompatible with the client, the fallback data is used to still provide HDR, but not DolbyVision. The most commonly compatible profile seems to be 8 (please correct me if I'm wrong). Additionally, WebOS televisions still seem to be unable to play DV files in an MKV container, so MP4 is the only route to go there, which is quite limiting.
