Hello,
I'm learning how to use Jellyfin. It's really cool what Jellyfin can do. I'm currently having a specific issue with external subtitle syncing. I'm watching a series where I have the correct subtitles and they work fine, BUT if I rewind or fast-forward the video, the subtitles get out of sync.
My setup is really simple. I'm on a computer with Windows 11 (AMD RX590, an older graphics card, but at least I can use AMD AMF in practically everything except AV1). The server is updated to the latest version 10.10.7. The TV where I watch content is an Android TV, but it's a really old TV where I have the app version jellyfin-androidtv 0.18.8.
The content I'm streaming is a series called Banshee, which has built-in subtitles but not my native language. So, I simply placed the SRT files with the same name as the video file. Jellyfin recognizes the subtitles without any problems. The video file is AV1, which is not supported by the TV, so the Windows 11 server decodes with the CPU and encodes with the GPU. I haven't noticed any temperature rise or fan activation, so I don't think there would be a major power issue. The computer has a Ryzen 5 3600 processor.
To avoid desynchronization, I would like to force the subtitles to be inserted into the video (since the TV doesn't support AV1, the video still has to be decoded on the server). Unfortunately, the options on my Android TV don't show an option that allows me to force this.
On the server side, I have disabled the "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" option, but from what I read in the documentation, for the subtitles to actually be inserted into the video, it would have to generate a subtitle incompatibility.
What could I do? Why do I experience desynchronization when fast-forwarding or rewinding the video?
Thanks !
Best regards
