Ever since Intro skipper was discontinued I have been looking for a replacement the following quote from the blog seems to indicate that they built it into the latest release
I installed the plugin but could not find any information for how to use it
Any help?

"Media Segments
The Jellyfin server now supports the management of Media Segments. This means that we store some additional information for certain time-spans on a video that clients can then use to provide additional actions. For example, when there is a Media Segment of the type intro, a client may display a button to skip that particular segment. For 10.10, we only provide the general structure to store those Media Segments, and you will still require a plugin to create them. We have created one plugin that does this, based on the Chapter names of a movie or Episode, which you can find in the Plugin catalogue, and others may be implemented in the future. The Web interface fully supports skipping segments; other client support is pending."

Intro Skipper is not discontinued, it just have change ownership but is indeed very much active. You can access the new one here : https://github.com/intro-skipper/intro-skipper
And it supports media segments.

Media segments is not quite the same as intro skipper. It allows for a lot of functions similar to intro/outro skipping.

There is a plugin called "Chapter Segments Provider" that you need to install. Once you restart after installing the plugin, you also need to run the "Media Segment Scan" job in Dashboard > Scheduled Tasks. Once you've done that, go back to your home screen and click on your profile image in the top right and click "Playback". Scroll down and there will be several drop down menus to select how you want Jellyfin to behave for various segment types.

BUT, this requires that your content have properly labeled chapter names.

Having said all that, Intro Skipper is very much not dead.

The text can be changed?

BTW: it works pretty well!

You can use tools like ffmpeg or MKVToolnix to change chapter titles without re-encoding.  But it is a 100% manual process.  Not recommended.  Slightly-frowning-face

You would be able to script the process with ffmpeg, but that is assuming that every show is laid out the same.

Hi @TheDreadPirate,

Do you know what format the chapter names need to be? I have comchap scripted to run on my files, and it is indeed embedding the chapters as "Commercial 1", "Commercial 2" etc, and in between content is "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2" etc.

I can see the markers during playback in jellyfin, and can manually skip by hitting the next chapter button - but no player will bring up the skip button, or auto skip as per the player preferences.  I've tried on Mac and Android TV.

Intros and credits skip is working as expected, with skip button appearing.

Any clues why commercials are not auto skipping?  Face-with-monocle

Each client will have its own settings menu for configuring default actions for media segments. Have you set them up?

Android TV:
Preferences -> Playback

Web:
Settings -> Playback (settings is found on the homepage, when you click on your user profile)

The naming of the chapter segments can be arbitrary if you install the Chapter segment provider plugin.

This is the default naming for chapter segments.
