    Hello,

I'm encountering a problem with Jellyfin and I'm hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot it.

Jellyfin automatically uses the image in my movie folder as the poster for that movie, even after I manually change it using the official Windows Jellyfin client. These folders contain the movie file along with some screenshots (which I cannot delete). When I change the movie poster, it initially works, but after some time Jellyfin reverts back to using one of the screenshots as the poster.

I’ve tried locking the metadata and turning on the "save artwork into the folder" option, but the issue persists.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate your help!

    Thank you in advance!

What are the names of the images in the folder? Jellyfin will always prefer the image files saved with the media. If the current file name matches one of the names Jellyfin looks for it will always use it.

    https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server...ies#images

If it does match what is documented in that link, you can change the file name and Jellyfin should ignore it.

When you state "which I cannot delete" for screenshots, what do you mean by that? You can't delete them in Jellyfin's GUI? Or that they're being used for another program?

Also, what are the library settings for the image metadata? Can you share a screenshot of that?
And do you have automatic library scans taking place periodically?

Thanks for your response. To clarify, I can't rename or delete the image (a screenshot) in the folder because it's being used by another program. The image shares the same name as the video file, which I suspect is why Jellyfin is picking it up as the poster.

Regarding the automatic scans, I noticed that Jellyfin scans the media library every 12 hours and refreshes metadata. Disabling this could prevent the poster from being overwritten, but this is only a temporary solution. Manually changing the posters for each affected movie isn’t ideal, especially for large collections.

I've attached a screenshot of my current settings with arrows indicating the changes I made for testing. As you can see, there’s an option to "save artwork in the media folder." By that logic, shouldn't Jellyfin only use images from the media folder when this is enabled? Currently, it’s using the images from the media folder whether this setting is on or off.
