Intel N5030, 4GB ram lmao. From 2018 if I'm not mistaken. Running Windows 10.

I've tried the Jellyfin Media Player app. There's no audio desynch there but all movies struggle playing there. I don't really use it for this reason.

Your new ffmpeg code also did nothing. I did see the audio codecs were changed to OPUS so it did definitely work.

I do appreciate the help you've given me, but at the moment I'm at a loss.

What is the CPU load like when you play this file on your laptop?

I'm getting this same problem on a lot of my recorded off OTA videos.

Strangely if I disable hardware transcoding and enable software transcoding the problem goes away.

What hardware do you have? Both on the media server and on the device you're watching on

I've tried some other high bitrate movies as well, like the Star Wars 4k77 restoration project. I had no problems when playing that.

When playing this one Chinese movie: (37.4 Mbps)
    - First it buffers in with a minute or two at 100%
    - When playing it sits anywhere between 60% and 100%.

    When playing 4k77: (86.0 Mbps)
    - It loads in almost instantly (still at 100% usage)
    - When playing it sits between 30% and 70%

I tested this with nothing open except firefox with a single tab, and taskmanager. On both files I used a DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio track.

What video codec is each using? Both HEVC?

Hmm no.. Chinese movie is AVC and 4k77 is HEVC

I did actually make an encode to HEVC and tried it. It's down to 16.4 Mbps, with passthrough audio and subtitles. The problem still persists but I did see shorter loadtimes and less cpu ussage when playing.

We can be sure it's not caused by bitrate, and probably not by codec either.

IMO, I think it just isn't up to the task. Primarily the RAM. 4GB for Windows 10 is just not enough, IMO. Why the H264 struggles and not the other one? IDK.

I'd bet that running a lightweight Linux OS on that would help a bunch.

Then I do wonder why it runs in VLC

Audio even desynchs when I put Jellyfin on 360p... wtf

    Thanks anyways for your help!
