MP3 album artwork not updating

Jellyfin 10.10.5.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong.

I have music albums consisting of MP3 tracks with album artwork embedded inside the MP3s.

Jellyfin correctly displays the metadata and the album artwork.

Jellyfin is configured to detect files that change.

If I now change the embedded artwork using a different application Jellyfin does not update the album artwork.

If I tell Jellyfin to scan the music library for new or changed files it does not update the artwork.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a bug that I should report?

Some applications will make changes to your music tags/images without changing the modify date of the file. In that situation Jellyfin would not detect the change since the change in modify date is the trigger to re-scan the file.

Depending on the app, it may be configurable to have the tagging app change the modify date. Musicbrainz Picard is the app I use and it can be configured update the file's modify date when tags/images are changed.

Thanks, that's a good idea but the modified date is being changed by my app.

If I tell Jellyfin to scan the library and replace all metadata including images it still does not update the artwork.

Any more suggestions? Should I report this as a bug?
