Syncplay can work outside your network, if you configure Jellyfin to be Internet accessible.

But just letting you know that syncplay doesn't work great. The dev that added the functionality left the project (no documentation for the code) and the remaining devs haven't had a chance to try to reverse engineer how syncplay works to make it better.

Even if both users can play the same video individually without any issues, it often turns into a stuttery mess when using syncplay. Getting the video to resume after pausing requires you perform rain dance of leaving/rejoining to get working again.

I'm curious, why was the functionality left in if no one currently in the project knows how it works and it is no longer being developed?
I don't want to change my sig with every new version. I'm running whatever the currently packaged version for Ubuntu Server 22.04 Smiling-face

If every piece of code was ripped out after the original author stops contributing, what would be left? The devs intend to attempt to re-write or fix the code. But other more used functions need attention.
