    I just wanted to point out that the preset speed doesn't apply to HWA. It only applies to transcoding with the CPU in Jellyfin, so it won't have an effect on the speed of the GPU.

    Are you absolutely sure?  I just ran 2 tests with the same cmdline changing only the preset and this is what i got

    Code:
    veryslow preset
    frame= 2926 fps=209 q=-0.0 Lsize=  92688kB time=00:01:37.51 bitrate=7786.5kbits/s speed=6.98x

    faster preset
    frame= 2926 fps=256 q=-0.0 Lsize=  93509kB time=00:01:37.51 bitrate=7855.5kbits/s speed=8.52x

    File size and quality are also different.

    @Venson Just for my understanding, when you mentioned "chuck that into the QNAP nas given you dont use the Thunderbold card" did you mean using an external PCIe enclosure connected via the Thunderbolt interface for a GPU?(Would make sense if I would require a 8-pin power connector for the GPU)

    For something like the Arc A750, which does require an external power source, do you think it could run via an external Thunderbolt enclosure?

    If the card is used explicitly for transcoding, all of the Arc cards are the same performance-wise. I have the A380 and it rips for sure. I wouldn't shell out the extra money for a higher-end card unless you're looking at a bit more VRAM.
