I Just installed Jellyfin and was wondering,
Do I have to give it read permission for the movie folder?

I tried and couldn't see it in the permission drop box (system internal User)

how do i give it permission?

It can't seem to detect my movies

I'm assuming you mounted the volume with your movies into the container, correct?

@Efficient_Good_5784 - Can you chime in?

Can you post how you created the Jellyfin container?

You shouldn't need to mess around with permissions unless you made a new user (other than admin) that's used to upload media to a shared folder.

Did you check the shared folder's permission settings to make sure the user you set Jellyfin as has access to it?

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.

Ended up starting over. Realized that I didn't need to touch any permissions.
Was confused by a video I had seen that used 3rd party apps.

    All is good for now

    Thank you for the help.
