    Hello all

I'm using Jellyfin as my main media player throughout my house.

For most of the day i listen music and as you all know music is enjoyed and played based on time event or mood.

Therefore playlists are an integral part of this environment and to create them is a massive undertaking, (currently because of hardware issues which causes the need to rebuild ALL my playlists. This means listening to 4539 tracks and allocating those selected to one or more playlists.

Then each playlists is sorted based upon an unfolding of an event
As an example The playlist i use in my car is 19 hours long. The playlist is sorted in consideration of number of hours driven. As an example the playlist start smooth then after 3 hour it livens up, then relaxes (to avoid speeding).

    I had 167 playlists

Given the software programing issues, software and/or hardware updates and upgrades or just simply the stupidity of the end user, jellyfin must be re-installed.

This means that a playlist created in one jellyfin installation will not work in a new jellyfin installation because Jellyfin assigns a UID to the playlist.

This can be a default behavior

However a end-user must have the option to create the playlist "without assigning ownership to the playlist" or cause Jellyfin to add 000000000000 to the playlist UID so the playlist could be backed up and reused in the event of a system rebuild.

This could be enhanced if a user would like to assign UID to a playlist this UID could be assigned by the main user or by the device creating the playlist.

In this case the user's family members (or friends with remote access) could have private playlist (music videos)

A simpler development is to assign the UID based on the login credentials. Therefore as na user would most likely install a new jellyfin instance, the playlist created in one jellyfin instance could be imported in the new jellyfin install

This development would save many users a mountain of time an frustrations

Hope this is of interest and help make jellyfin better and better
    Servers: Dell r720 128gb ram  2x 5690  24tb HGST
    Supermicro x10 32 gb ram 1 X 5675   20TB HGST
Truenas scale with Jellyfin  as an app in truenas on both
I still say to use less internet and use more cabernet (responsibly (only if driving))
    be well now
