I currently use an Intel i5 7500 with QSV, but I also happen to have picked up a Quadro P620.  Putting power consumption to one side is there any benefits to using the GPU?  Will it transcode faster? And as far as I can tell it supports all the same as the CPU

It will definitely transcode faster. It will also be able to handle several more HDR to SDR tone mapped streams than the Intel iGPU since tone mapping scales with VRAM.

In terms of quality, for this generation of Nvidia and Intel encoders I'd give Intel an edge. But probably not noticeable unless you are comparing side by side while paused.
