    Hello,
I have had a lot of trouble getting jellyfin to transcode HEVC, which all of my devices and clients can handle. Is there a way I can instead transcode the video prior and then direct stream the different qualities? When I tried this before the movies showed up as separate and not as the same one. Surely there is a way to have either a quality selector to chose a different file in player or at least have them show up as the same movie and then ask you what file you want.

    Thanks.

Only way is to convert all your content to diffrent resolutions, which takes up a lot of space, then addd - 576p, -720p, -108p etc. like this documentation shows: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/

I would just use transcoding, havent had troubles with that and i save storage and work..

This is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you. I know that live transcoding would save space but I have plenty and I have a limited upload speed so I feel this is the better option for me. Thank you for submitting!

Something to keep in mind, "versions" are only supported in the Movies library type right now. Jellyfin 10.9 will support versions for shows, but there is no ETA on that release.
