each time I import a compilation I run the m3u script below in the compilations folder and all m3u's get updated and soon are imported in Jellyfin without issues.

I would love for Jellyfin to abandon the ancient and today pretty irrelevant album doctrine. not to talk about requiring us to destroy a neat file name of Artist - Song Name with the track number as filename....
People consume music as singles mostly and artists many times dont even pay attention to any "albums". Sure if you "only" listen to "madonna" or "bruce sprengsteen" (great artists) then ok, but the amount of independent artists today require a flexible library giving the user freedom to put their music in folders of their like for instance genre. I hope Jellyfin can beat Plex at this too. Cheers

You'll still have the main music library that is organized by artist/album, but it should provide a separate library that allows you to view by folder. Screenshot attached to show the option and context.

After ripping and tagging new music I use foobar2000 to move the new files to my NAS. You can specify the folder structure within the "file operation setup". My file name pattern: Code: %artist%\%date% - %album%\%disc number%.%track number% - %artist% - %title% Just add your main music folder as library to foobar and let it scan your files. After that you can select them all and execute the file operation. Just copy my settings and set your destination folder directly to the NAS folder you want Jellyfin to use. It will create the folder structure, rename and move your collection. If you don't want it to remove the original files and folders just use "copy" instead of move. |
