SOLVED: Cant play mkv videos on jellyfin roku app

So I'm running binhex-jellyfin on unraid with an Intel J4125B-ITX with 32gb of ram, corsair sfx450 psu. (Overkill yes but I've had it for years and its still rock solid.)

I have a few mkv files that simply close when I try to watch them on the Roku Jellyfin app. No error is displayed it just closes the video and returns to the video selection after 40~ seconds. Yet the same file(s) play fine on my pc with the web-ui or my android phone (Nothing 2). I've attached a slimmed down log file but please let me know if other diagnostic info can be grabbed. Since I'm not sure if its simply failing to transcode the mkv videos or something else? My internet isn't great and I can see a few warnings about a slow connection sometimes but unless I'm constantly fast forwarding the videos stream well enough.

What model roku and what codecs are the files using? Can you share the media info from the Jellyfin interface for the problem videos?

I can share the media info from my pc using the Windows Jellyfin player, on the roku it quits too fast. The roku its self is the "Streaming Stick 4K." Not sure if you also want the sku of it since its a rather ambiguous model name imo.

I don't have my Roku in front of me, going by memory. In Jellyfin for Roku, click on the options button, Settings, Playback, Compatibility. There should be a setting regarding attempting to play H264 profiles that aren't compatible. Disable it.

No dice still just returns to movie selection. Didn't even know about the transcoding options on roku till now.

The option I had you toggle on the Roku only has to do with Roku attempting to play content it determines isn't 100% compatible.  By disabling it, it won't bother to try and will just request a transcode from the server.

Which your server doesn't appear able to do.  What OS are you running?  Any particular reason you chose the binhex docker image and not the official image (based on debian)?

Do you have transcoding setup correctly in the Jellyfin dashboard?

I don't have a good reason for using binhex's image beyond the other images like radarr & sonarr working... I'm using unraid 6.12.6 and the latest jellyfin app for roku (need to double check I'm not somehow using an older version.)

For transcoding settings, I probably do have them setup incorrectly since my J4125B is a relatively cheap motherboard. For example I found this quicksync guide and after adding a new

Ugh. unRAID. Unfortunately, we do not currently have any documentation for unRAID. But that is on my to-do list.

Actually solved the issue via a reddit post.

Code:

Add Linux.io Jellyfin image from Unraid App store. Add additional parameter to jellyfin docker setting:

Add Device:
- Name: /dev/dri/
- Device: /dev/dri/

Add Variable:
- Name: DOCKER_MODS
- Key: DOCKER_MODS
- Value: linuxserver/mods:jellyfin-amd
In Jellyfin > Playback > Select VA-API
