    Hi,

I just encountered a problem with SRTs.  I couldn't find anything useful, although I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this.

    This thread might be related:
    https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues/12821

To cut a long story short, these are the various results I'm getting:

    • Title.de and Title.deu will display as Ger - SUBRIP - External
    • Title.German.de and Title.German.deu will display as German - SUBRIP - External
    • Title.Deutsch.de and Title.Deutsch.deu will display as Deutsch - Ger - SUBRIP - External

So far, only the second variant would be acceptable.  Ideally, however, I would like all subtitles to appear in their native name, as in the last example—minus the "Ger" part, that is.

I don't claim to understand the underlying technology, but I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with how it currently works that should be fixed.

I appreciate your insights on this topic.

    Thanks.

The following post isn't about subtitles, but it might be related after all:

There is already a PR in the works to address this issue: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/pull/13068

    Thanks for the update!

Just to make sure I understand correctly, does that mean using Title.Deutsch.deu will be a future-proof solution and eventually display as Deutsch - SUBRIP - External?

Or will this only fix the "Ger" part and actually result in Deutsch - German - SUBRIP - External which would be redundant?

It would be a good idea to make alternative (native) names available.
