Previously, I asked how to get Jellyfin to update the Library pictures after unchecking 'Save artwork into media folders' for each Library:
SOLVED: Moved pics, but they won't reload

    TheDreadPirate answered:
Quote:You have to rescan the individual libraries and select "find missing metadata" and check the box "replace all images".
    media folders

And it seemed to work, so I marked it "Solved".

BUT... Jellyfin actually just ignored my choice to NOT save all those images in my media folders, and continues to fill them up. So: NOT solved, after all.

Best part? I had to manually ask each library to do this, for a total of 28 updates, and all I achieved was the original mess back again.

So I created an entirely NEW library, made sure its individual settings did NOT say 'Save artwork into media folders'. Jellyfin then proceeded to automatically trash that new folder with the artwork I didn't want to be stored there, even though these settings are supposedly Library-specific, and that Library had never had its setting changed.

Does anyone know how to get Jellyfin to listen to its own settings here?

I'm not able to replicate this behavior. I enabled saving of image to the media folder in my test setup and it saved. I then DELETED the images on the command line, unchecked that option in the test library settings, and replaced all images and it did NOT save images again.

Do you have another app, like Tiny Media Manager or something, that could be adding those images separate from Jellyfin?

    Not that I can see.

    SOLVED:

I was meticulously writing a log of everything I could check, and figured it out!

I have overlapping libraries. 24 of the 28 refer to genres of movies; 3 of the remainders are TV Shows and Music. That leaves one library, "Movies", that holds all 24 genres, plus every movie not in one of those folders. THAT library had its "save metadata to media folders" checked, so even though every genre did not, this library was still saving art where I didn't want it.

    Thanks for your efforts, TDP.
