Hi, I've noticed my subtitles go out of sync fairly frequently with some of the movies I watch and was looking for help. The movie i'm using for this thread is h265 mkv with srt subtitles (currently embedded but I also tried it as an external file in the same directory), I tried remuxing with the command found in this thread. It occurs most often when skipping backward or forward, resuming, pausing then playing, but it can also occur when the movie is just left playing too and i cant seem to correct it with the subtitle offset. I did manage to get it to play a section it seems to desync on most often fine once after remuxing but then it happened again and stayed stuck. I'm using vivaldi to connect to jellyfin from my desktop. When I download the movie from jellyfin in my browser and play it with mpv on my desktop the subtitles sync fine with no issue.

I'm assuming the videos are transcoding when watched in the browser? If so, this is a common issue since SRT subtitles are not burned in by default. Even if the video is transcoding. The remux command I specified in the thread you linked would help if the video was directly played by the browser.

There is a setting to burn in all subtitles when the video is transcoded, regardless if the client supports directly rendering the subtitles.

Settings > Subtitles > check "Always burn in subtitle when transcoding"

That worked, thank you! (: how do I enable this for all users? going to dashboard>users>user>edit this user's profile, image and personal preferences it shows it as already enabled after enabling it for myself, does that mean it needs to be enabled per device/browser?

I believe this is a per-client setting. Not even a per-user setting. Another user had a similar question regarding forcing a per-client setting, but I'd have to search and dig up their solution.

    Found it.

    You'd need to modify jellyfin-web. Specifically main.jellyfin.bundle.js.
