SOLVED: Watched status not updating (Apple TV)

My second time around trying Jellyfin — long term Plex user (lifetime Plex Pass).

I have a server (fresh install) on an M1 Mac Mini, installed SwifitFin on my iPad and on my Apple TV.

Playback is as expected (i.e. very good and without issue) on both devices. On the Apple TV the watched status does not update. For example, I can finish an episode of a show, and 'Next Up' will show the same episode.

It works as expected on my iPad. Including if I play an episode on the Apple TV, this is recognised as played by the server and my thus my IPad ('Next Up' displayed the next unplayed episode)

If I quit (not just close) and reopen the app on my Apple TV, 'Play Next' updates to the correct status (the next unplayed episode is now shown in 'Next Up').

I have fresh/vanilla server install on my Mac Mini, and not sure if there is something I have missed? I could not see anything in settings on the server (Mac mini) or the app (Apple TV).

Any advice/tips/suggestions appreciated — or if this is a known issue?

Swiftfin for tvOS isn’t ready for real-world use and is under heavy development.

I recommend using Infuse until Swiftfin is fully released
