I am new to Jellyfin. I have looked into it last year but I gave it another look recently and I have jumped into the deep end of the pool. I have been using plex for a few years now and was migrating data from one set of storage to another and used a tool I was not familiar with rather than good old fashioned rsync. I did not pay enough attention to what I was doing and deleted nearly my entire dataset. Argh! I ended up restoring my data from backups and took the opportunity to rethink my strategy. I separated 1080p and 4k content and I decided to give Jellyfin a try. I have been quite pleased so far with the admin console and having so much control over the experience. I am using Apple TVs as clients and I have Swiftfin and Infuse as clients. It looks like Swiftfin is still in the early development stages. It works ok for playback of movies and TV content - I like the fact that there is an Infuse sync plugin which speeds things up. Plex and Infuse used to sync almost continuously. During this whole rework, I decided to take control over live and recorded tv as the streaming solutions have too many limitations and I bought a HDHomeRun PRIME tuner and activated a cablecard in it. I tried out live TV in Jellyfin and it seems to work pretty well in the iPhone and web apps. It's still clunky in Swiftfin as expected (I know it's in the alpha stage). For the time being, I am running my DVR channels through Channels DVR until this matures via Swiftfin. I've been pleasantly surprised to see that I can accomplish almost everyone of my goals with my home media through Jellyfin. AppleTV users have limitations with Atmos. I source all my content with EAC Atmos so it will play in Infuse. It would be a huge win to be able to play the compressed Atmos format someday through Swiftfin and not need Infuse for this.
I appreciate the development team working so hard to build a great product and an amazing price (free) and volunteering their time. Is there a development schedule on later versions of Swiftfin and updating features such as live tv and EAC Atmos support?
Thank you!
Brian
