Installed Jellyfin for the first time on my 1019+ directly from the community packages (not Docker).

Started setting up the server and was asked which config mode the hardware acceleration should be used? I'm not sure so I ask, anyone familiar with this setting?

    Would appreciate it

    Thank-you

Your NAS has an Intel J3455 so you would select Quick Sync.

Use this table to help you check the appropriate boxes. The Apollo Lake column.

    Ok synology is working fine,

My second TV has an nvidia shield 2019 and the acceleration doesn't seem to work after seleting the nvidia. video playback is choppy snd skipping foraward stops playback.
    Anything i should select differently?

What do you mean by "selecting the Nvidia"? You selected NVENC for hardware acceleration? That option is for what your server can do. Not the client.

Should select Intel QuickSync (QSV) in the settings for the 1019+.
What I have experienced so far after moving from Plex, none of the HDR 4K HEVC movies are playing from the NAS, is that normal?
Getting following error: [Parsed_tonemap_vaapi_3 @ 0x556f704be8c0] VAAPI driver doesn't support HDR.
Is there away around this or is it just what it is?

How can you tell if hardware transcoding is working at all?

I just noticed, I never setup hardware acceleration on my setup.
I don't have any issues though,
but dont have much else running on my Synology other than JF.

Have you tried any HDR content? SDR content works fine, on HDR i get an error every time:
Playback Error: This client isn't compatible with the media and the server isn't sending a compatible media format.
    With following error in logs:
    VAAPI driver doesn't support HDR
So how do you play back HDR using Jellyfin? What settings to change or is it not possible at all?
