Is there a way to tag mkv files with information on season and episode number?

I'm manually organizing a library of shows that do not have season and episode number data that can be scrapped. I have found a way to tag MP4 files so that this data is embedded within the file and can be read by jellyfin, and thus does not need a local metafile data to be created. This would greatly reduce the clutter in my library. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how to do this.

    Thanks.

You should be able to tag MKVs with MKVToolnix. Possibly ffmpeg.

I've tried to do this with these tools, but the problem I'm having is, for some reason, Jellyfin isn't picking up the tags for the tvseason and tvepisode.
