Post great songs here! Don't necessarily have to go as in-depth as I am, but I'm a musician so I can't help it!
Current Banger: Genesis - Jesus He Knows Me, from We Can't Dance (1991)
Oh boy this one is great. I tend to lose respect for people who say "Genesis went pop" with derision, because they were still prog-rockers at heart even this late in their career. Take the key changes of this song, they're absolutely insane: We start with Bb major for the intro, then jump right into D# minor for the verse. Then D#(Eb) major for the pre-chorus, into G# minor for the chorus, ending on a Picadilly-third-like D# major chord. Repeat that, then the interlude is G minor to G# minor before repeating the Bb major intro and the entire verse-prechorus-chorus sequence again. The internet will tell you it's in C# major but just, no, it's not lol. I honestly can't tell if they were just making it up without thinking of the crazy key changes, or if Tony Banks really is just that big-brained music-theory wise, which is awesome.
Oh, and the lyrics are a fantastic, scathing critique of televangelists and faith healers, and it's at a very upbeat tempo of "95" (actually double-time-feel throughout, so really to drummer-me, 190) BPM.
