Hi! I'm Stimpy. I run Jellyfin on a NUC 14 Pro server, with 10Gb internal networking, and a 5Gb external connection. I've used it for music for years, in the past I just used VLC to play movie files. Now I'm slowly flattening my dvd/bluray/4k collection, and putting it in Jellyfin.
Everything has worked well for me. I like how all the metadata is just for my collection, and it's speedy and reliable to me. When I have an issue, it's usually adressed by adjusting settings.

I run JF on a Windows 11 machine. I installed it by running the exe, no docker or any other things. 🤷
All my media is on a 4Tb SSD and I do no remote access. So... about as basic as you can get.

I run the same setup as you, and have no problems accessing my videos while in my home.  But, if I'm away from home, obviously I can't access my videos on anything.  Is there a solution for this, as I would like to be at my son's house and access my videos (perhaps cast them to his TV).  Thank you.

Hi, I'm Nick, Jellyfin user for all of a week. I came to Jellyfin because of Plex putting its awful streamed content front and centre and moving away from its original purpose as a media server.

I'm running Jellyfin on a Windows 11 server with Caddy reverse proxy for remote access.

Hey, fellow "Fin-ers".  My name is Craig and I've been a Jellyfin user for less than a week but I am in love with it.  A HUGE thanks to the team for building a platform that has brought fun back to our home's CD collection.

I am ripping to flac and storing them on a Windows 11 machine running JF portable.  I fully networked our home years ago so much of the tech foundation was already in place.  Our main enjoyment of our new library is through a Cat5 connected Roku Ultra running the JF app, and that feeds to a Marantz pre/processor, an Outlaw Audio amp, a pair of fully restored KEF Reference Series speakers, and HT.

Last night though we sat around the firepit and streamed from a Pixel running the JF app and listened on a portable bluetooth speaker.  Though not the audiophile experience of our family room system it was absolutely a blast.  We handed the the Pixel around and everyone had their turn playing DJ.

That's what it's supposed to be about, right?  Enjoying our music.

I looked around a lot and even ran a trial of an alternative paid solution but Jellyfin was the only one that checked all the boxes :-)

Can leverage home audiophile setup?  Done.  Family can play on laptops via a user friendly app that is not a setup/support headache for me?  Done.  Can play on portable devices?  Done.  Can listen on the back patio?  Done.  Great metadata-read and "What's Playing Now" display on the flat screen?  Done.  Didn't cause me any setup headaches?  DONE.

I'm sitting here on a Sunday morning listening to Carole King/Tapestry and continuing the ripping project :-)  Haven't listened to that album in years.

    Hello everyone.
My name is Antonio and I'm from Spain.
I've been an Emby user for the past few years, but this weekend I had enough time to install a Jellyfin Docker instance, install the Jellyfin client for Tizen OS, and get everything ready for the rest of my family.
I'm happy to have made the switch to a 100% open source project.

    Hello
I am an hobbyist when it comes to computers and self-hosted solutions intrigue me a lot.
I run my stack on Acer Nitro 5 (some 2021 edition) which has Ryzen 5 4600H n GTX 1650, and i recently got a used intel nuc 5i5ryk (i5 5th gen).
Internal, external, boot drives, all included i have about 6TB storage.

Jellyfin is one of the most powerful self-hosted apps, and it being free is honestly wild. I like how intuitive it's to use with tons of customizations and active and passionate community all over internet ready to help out with setup, and creating amazing tools/addons to enhance the user experience.

Besides jellyfin i use basic arr stack, navidrome (symfonium ftw), trilium, filebrowser, olivetin and heimdall. Layered with cf, nginx and crowdsec. (i think i might be paranoid)
While i don't plan to be active on the forum, it's nice to be here all the same.

I'm Joshua, project leader and release manager of Jellyfin.

I use Jellyfin mostly for videos (TV + Movies) and music, with a bit of YouTube on the side. I run it on Debian native, inside a VM, with a 238TB (1/2 usable) CephFS as the backing storage and NGiNX as the frontend proxy.

    What's your story and setup?

    Hi everyone,
I originally started using Jellyfin about three years ago, mainly to test my firewall rules from outside my network. Since then, it has grown into something much more; my family and friends now use it regularly to watch movies, TV series, and even some training videos.
Over the years, my setup has become increasingly complex as I have worked to make it stable and secure. Here’s my current configuration:
    • Host: Proxmox
      • CPU: i7 @ 3.4GHz
      • RAM: 20GB
      • No GPU passthrough (Proxmox doesn’t seem too happy about that!)
    • VM: Debian 12 (14GB RAM)
      • Media shared via NFS from an old macOS system
    • Network setup:
      • Everything sits behind a load balancer acting as a reverse proxy
      • Only port 443 is open on the pfSense firewall
      • All traffic goes through Cloudflare for IP obfuscation and an extra layer of security
I’m currently running Jellyfin 10.11.2, and it’s been extremely stable,  easily handling up to 6 users simultaneously without issues.
Really love what Jellyfin has become, thank you to the devs and community for keeping it open and improving!

I've run Plex and Kodi before but Kodi is a jungle and can be glitchy. Plex is getting heavy on commercialism. Jellyfin seems nice and stable and does what I need, aside from one minor issue I'll post in General Questions. Minor thing I can live with.

I still have Plex but strictly use it for the free streaming service. I also run Pluto, Tubi and others in SSB browsers. I only watch them occasionally because there always seems to be something in the collection we haven't binged on in years.

What is an SSB browser? Single-Site Browser as per Peppermint OS's ICE SSB and old versions of browsers or WebApps as per Linux Mint. It's a browser stripped of it's menus, status bar, address bar; leaving just a title bar with min/max/close buttons and the window' frame. Both ICE SSB WebApps have the ability to create a menu item when you create the SSB. Being a browser, F11 for full screen.

I know CSS pretty well and will have fun tweaking on cold winter days. If I come up with something nice looking, I'll be sharing. It will have to blend with Kubuntu KDE Plasma in Breeze Dark mode since that's what I run on several machines here including the HTPC Mini PC. I'm anxiously awaiting KDE Plasma Bigscreen for the TV.

I currently have Jellyfin running in TV display mode and am playing around with the Xbox controller. It did navigate but skipped over every other movie/show. I had assigned the right/left/up/down arrow keys to the 4 way D pad using AntiMicroX so as soon as I removed those assignments, it worked as normal without skipping every other item. It was in double tap mode.

Sceptre 43" dumb TV, Beelink Mini PC running Kubuntu KDE Plasma, Xbox controller, but invariably, wireless mouse and keyboard. PC display settings Global Display Scale @ 300% which doesn't actually zoom 300% but does make most things visible from the couch.

Not having the bloated home screen of a Smart TV or Firestick, Roku box etc? Priceless.

I'm also looking at various full screen launchers to create a non bloated version of a Smart TV home screen. I've had an HTPC for many years now but it's always looked and acted like a PC until you go full screen. I'll be getting a monitor to run along with the TV for those times when I want to do something other than watch video content or do stuff while watching.
