ok, there's progress... i went back to yout first post and tinkered with tone mapping settings for transcoding - i have no idea how is this related, but that's a fact  - it started working again on synology.
i unchecked lower tone mapping option leaving only first one (vpp, for intel based drivers) checked.

well, as long as it works.

Hopefully it keeps working. Tone mapping settings does sound like the culprit here.
