Audio Track and Subtitles Names Translation

Hi everyone,

I have a jellyfin server running on docker set up in French. Everything seems to be correctly translated (movie titles, description, etc..).
However, the audio tracks and subtitles are all in english.

Meaning when I want to select a subtitle the displayed choices are:
 English - SUBRIP - Externe
 French - SUBRP - Externe

Same for audio track, the language is written in English.

Is there a way to:
1. Display the subtitle/audio track language using the correct locale (i.e. French in my case)
2. Simplify the Audio/subtitles track displayed name. e.g.:

• "English" instead of "English - SUBRIP - Externe"
  
• and same for the audio track "English 5.1" Instead of "AC-3 5.1 - Fre - Dolby Digitial - etc..."

What file names did you use for your external subs? Specifically, the two or three letters for the language code.

I used (well bazarr uses) the 2 letters encoding (moviename.en.srt or moviename.fr.srt).

My problem occurs with external subtitles files as well as internal one (embedded in mkvs).

I found this github issue. Not related to your specific problem, but the discussion implies that we should be using the three letter 639-2 "T" codes. Which would be "fra" and "eng" and not "fr" and "en".

Give that a try. Change the language code to fra and eng, rescan your library, and report back. If that does work, I will submit a PR to update our documentation, which currently provides examples with the 639-1 two letter codes.

This GitHub issue has a possible workaround. There seems to be quite a few issues on GitHub regarding this.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately it did not change anything. The subtitles lists is still shown as follows (see attachement).

Would be great if this was displayed as "Anglais" instead of "English" and "Français" instead of "Fre"

This GitHub issue has a possible workaround. There seems to be quite a few issues on GitHub regarding this.

So checking the following issue did solve some of my issues.
By change the locale parameters of my docker-compose file to:

LC_ALL=fr_FR.UTF-8
LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=fr:fr

I managed to have the english subs and audio track written as "Anglais" with the correct translation.

However, the french translation is still stuck to "Fre" instead of "Français" (see attached).

I believe this is due to the github ticket I linked.  "Fre" is the ISO 639-2 "B" code for French, which Jellyfin does not use.  We use the 639-2 "T" code, fra, or the 639-1 code, fr.  You set the file name to "fra", correct?  I'm assuming "Fre" is in the subtitle file itself or in the subtitle metadata.

I did change the subtitles files from *.fr.srt to *.fra.srt.

But the issue is still here. And it's not only with the subtitles but with the audio track names too. As shown on the attached image in my previous post, the audio track list Fre as language

Run "ffprobe" on the SRT file.
