    Just a heads up.
"Unapproved apps" are disappearing from the home screen and list of apps from my Shield device.
Jellyfin is one of those apps.
    Nvidia's response. Too bad. Sorry.

did you sideload the JF app?

or what do you mean by "unapproved apps"? i cannot find anything after a quick google search related to that topic.

If you don't install to Shield from Google or Amazon it's "Not Approved" ie: anything you side load is not supported.
I've been running "Cinema HD", "Jellyfin", and "Smarttube" for over a year with no problems at all.
Last week they started disappearing off my home screen.
When I contacted Nvidia they told me:
    Hello,

    Thank you for your response,

Please note that applications installed manually through APK files are not officially supported on SHIELD. For the best experience and stability, we recommend installing apps directly from the Google Play Store on SHIELD TV. Since APK-sideloaded applications are not validated for compatibility, we are unable to provide support for issues caused by them.

    ********************

Like I said, Ive used these apps for over a year and they have never caused a problem, or disappeared until last week.
My entire media service is driven by Jellyfin. I can't imagine using anything else.
I suspect Google or Nvidia is wiping these apps. I'm hunting inside the code to see if I can discover how.
If I find anything, I'll post it.

    Why would you sideload Jellyfin?

This announcement was released a couple of weeks ago that Google will be stopping sideloading.
