Sometimes I like to browse my Plex library via bitrate. I'm kind of a video nerd. Is this possible in Jellyfin?

AFAIK, no.
There is the "Reports" plugin that lists some technical information for your videos, but not bit rate.

Thanks for the reply. I've added it to my feature request.
I like Jellyfin. There are things about it which are nice. But there are still a few things like this that are holding it back for primary use. But for the time being, setting it up as a backup server works.

Anybody know if this has been added to Jellyfin yet? Or if there is a way to do it. The ability to filter by bitrate and also resolution would be really helpful.

That's a bit disappointing. I guess I was kind of hoping for more number based resolution filtering like 240p, 360p, 480i/p, 720p, 1080i/p, 1440p, 2160p, etc. Similar to Youtube or Plex. Same with bitrate as you can filter by bitrate in Plex. Seems like it would be a fairly simple thing to implement given all the other search parameters that already exist, but I'm not a developer so I could be way off on that. Thank you for your feedback, seems we just can't have it all with any of these platforms. Either we go closed source with something like Plex to get all the features or opensource with Jellyfin and only get the basic features. Be great if one platform could do it all.

I just discovered that Emby also has a filter by bitrate option, which works great because you can also display the bitrate, resolution, and a whole bunch of other "Show Fields" options that can be toggled on and off. All underneath each movie poster/card. This is even possible on the Roku app. That's even more than Plex can do.
Really hoping Jellyfin gets these options on both web and Roku eventually. That would be really cool. Along with a static vertical side menu, like what Jellyfin has on the web interface (although it's not static, it would be nice if it was so it doesn't go away) and also be nice if it could be put on the Roku interface. But those are whole other requests. Lol! |
