So I finally made an account with Opensubtitles and went with their VIP program to get as many subs as possible. It was nice to have this process automated but now I have an issue, It seems that absolutely every subtitle that I've checked out 3 movies and 2 shows all the subtitles are about 1-2 seconds ahead of the scene. It is too the point that it is too distracting. Has anyone dealt with this and is there an easy fix?

I am running Jellyfin Version 10.8.13 on bare metal Ubuntu Server 23.10 on an old laptop.

Thanks in advance.  Version: 10.8.13 Version

I've had this issue with a couple of movies and shows, not all though. There is a subtitle offset from the osd you can use to alleviate the issue, kind of annoying to have to do that for everything you watch though. Also, do you have the box checked in the library settings to only download perfect matches?

I actually don't have the box with perfect match checked should I have that checked? Also I'm sort of new to all this what do you mean by subtitle offset from OSD? thanks in advance.

Edit: sorry On Screen Display. I'm stupid.

I have a follow up question to this.

If a adjust the subtitle offset in the OSD , example using the web client.
Will that apply the offsest to some sort of config/nfo file for that media?
Thus applying to all users? Or trickle down from admin to normal users?

Or only saved per user per session in a viewing session?
(will it reset once the media is marked as "completed watched")?

I may be wrong but think that any offset for subtitles would be client dependant. You should have the "perfect match" box selected if you want to only get subtitles that line up correctly. Unfortunately you will have to download subtitles from OpenSubtitles for ones that don't & test them to find a correct match. Fortunately I use a client app called Infuse for my Apple Tv that allows me to download subtitles from OpenSubtitles for items that the plugin was not able to find.
Cheers & hope this answers some questions,
    J.J.
