I realize this has been posted before but when trying to access previous posts I only got a 404 response so please forgive any duplication. If my questions have already been answered, I'm happy to be redirected.

I recently started adding Doctor Who to my library and came across the issue of its specials. They do appear in TMDB which is my metadata provider but as standalone TV movies. This is not quite optimal because the specials should be embedded into the flow of the series, in at least one instance the special belongs between two episode mid-season.

So far I have simply added the specials as named episodes so they get sorted to their spot at the beginning or end of a season (something like "S05E13 The Time of the Doctor"). This won't work for a mid-season special and I can't think of a way to solve this.

    I'd appreciate any pointers!

When you click on search results there is a myBB bug that breaks those search result links. You just delete everything in the URL after the & and the link will work. I'm assuming this is the post you were trying to read.

To your question, Jellyfin is at the mercy of how online DBs categorize specials. Check out TVDB since they organize stuff a bit differently than TMDB.

Otherwise, you have to manually override like you've been doing.

I use the TVDb to get the proper naming for Dr. Who specials. Here's the link https://thetvdb.com/series/doctor-who-20...official/0
    hope this helps
