So I've noticed that on my desktop and phone (SRT works on my phone too), when I play the media and click on 'Playback info', the play method is 'Direct streaming'. But, on the TV's its 'direct playing'. Could this be the issue? If so how do I make my TVS use direct streaming?

Sorry didn't see this reply. They are both just generic android smart TVs. One is a 'Polaroid' and the other is a 'Bush'.

Are you able to install our Android TV app from the Google Play store?? That would be a much better experience than using a browser on a TV.

Direct streaming means the audio is being transcoded.  Regardless, the playback method shouldn't affect whether SRT works or not since SRT subs should be directly rendered by the client separately.

But do install the Android TV Jellyfin app if you haven't done that. I only mention this because you said "browser on your TV".

Sadly neither have a google play store app. They have their own custom playstore but jellyfin isn't on it, just plex.

At this point should I just buy a firestick, run the jellyfin client through that and hope it fixes the SRT issues?

    It should.

Also, I'd recommend a Roku or Chromecast w/Google TV over a Firestick. Or some other Android TV based box/dongle. Firesticks have some quirks that are problematic with Jellyfin.
