Syncplay / watch together Android TV

Im a bit surprised the code is left in since its so buggy, but also they who it works for seems to work well.

I cant get it to work, so looking for alternatives, like remote desktop or something

It wasn't removed because it's a feature that people want. And like you state, it works for some people, so the decision was made to not touch it in the meantime.

The main issue with removing syncplay ever since it's been determined to be buggy is that there wouldn't be much effort put into adding a proper implementation.
If it was removed, nothing would have been done to replace it. So the current code for it remains for those that can still use it at least.

Syncplay will probably be worked on in the future, but there's still no timeline as to when we could expect to see movement with it.

Any updates on adding Syncplay functionality to Android TV? I’m a PLEX refugee who’s migrating to JF after they announced they’ll be axing the Watch Together feature in future versions. Syncplay works great on LG WebOS, but I’d love to use it on my Shield with its faster UI. Is this something that will be worked on in the future?

Syncplay will come to the Android TV app but I'm still preparing everything to make that happen.

As another Plex Pass subscriber who's now losing Watch Together - and as a follower who loves JF, with only SyncPlay being what is keeping me away, I'd like this too :-)

I would also love to see this feature as a Plex Pass holder that is dumbfounded by the fact that plex is killing watch together. My friend and I both have android TVs and that would be the preferable method of using syncplay, as he has issues with his PC not outputting multichannel audio through his web browser for some reason. This is THE feature I need to switch entirely.

I've worked on changes for the 10.11 server version so it will become possible to implement syncplay in the app. I already have a prototype (to test those server changes). No promises when but syncplay is still coming to Android TV

Well, this feature and the ability to download subtitles from within the android TV app are both wishes
