    Hi all -

Curious what people are using as tvOS clients. Have used Jellyfin, Swiftfin, and Mrmc, and Mrmc is bar far the most capable of the three. That said Mrmc is a dead project and is not being further enhanced to my knowledge. It's also, frankly, quite clunky on tvOS as compared to swift fin's much slicker interface.

What are others using successfully for playback across a wide variety of filetypes (Ala a VLC type of file support breadth)? VLC is great via DLNA, but Swiftfin's experience is the best.

What do others think? Thanks and happy holidays!

I ended up using infuse pro (not free unfortunately) on tvOS (I am using the swiftfin testflight builds on iOS, I hope eventually we'll get a swiftfin update fro tvOS too, but it seems it will still take a while).

I'm not entirely happy with infuse pro, but it does seem to play anything I throw at it and mostly work well enough. (You can't set a next up periode for example which is one of the many annoyances I have with it)

I'm also hunting for a good Jellyfin client for tvOS and I'm coming up short. Is it really possible that there are NO good clients for the Apple TV???

Infuse is by far the best & frequently updated. It seems to be able to direct play anything I throw at it. I'm not a fan of subscription apps but @ $1/month (yearly subscription), I've never felt that it wasn't worth it!

What's kind of funny about your statement is Infuse being able to direct play anything you throw at it.  That's because Infuse only direct plays - it has no transcoding ability (and doesn't use JF transcoding at all).
