I can't tell if you're referring to Roku or Jellyfin.

If it's the later - it was broken and thats why we fixed it, just as you suggested.

Also confirmed on iOS (Jellyfin Mobile 1.6.1), media is able to play normally and shows all expected content tiles, not just up next. Would anyone have suggestions for a fix or method to revert the update on the Roku streaming stick device? Thank you!

You likely need to update your server. What version are you running? The latest is 10.10.6.

Thanks for the response! After checking, it seems the server version was outdated, and we now have 10.10.6 running on our setup with container manager/Synology. Updating the version however, completely wiped the old server (settings, users and indexed media), so we just reconfigured from scratch and are now waiting for the chance to test streaming again once the media hopefully syncs up.

Would you have any suggestions for maintaining smoother server updates like this in the future?

    Thank you! Smiling-face

    Your very welcome 🤘

I personally don't have any tips. I run my package manager every Monday and it picks up updates.

Maybe pose the question one of the other forums here and others using similar software can help out.

The upgrade is not working for me. It only shows a black screen with my account name in the corner. I can access the account menus, but nothing else shows. The menus flash on the screen for one second then disappear. Is there any way to downgrade? I assume the answer is no and that I might have to switch back to Plex.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but that did not work.

Update: I upgraded the server to 10.10.6 and the Black screen problem was fixed.

Make sure your Jellyfin server is up to date. The current version is 10.10.6

Their Roku forcing an update and now they can’t use their Jellyfin app. The entire reason I set this up in the first place was so that I had total control. This is absolute bullshit that these companies control and force devices into obsolescence that worked perfectly fine before. Now I have to figure out how to not only update my Jellyfin server but also my operating system. I was fine with everything the way it was and now it’s going to cost me hours figuring this all out again and possibly having to replace an otherwise perfect fine computer just so I can continue to use the Jellyfin service. This is an extremely frustrating situation. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way. Not sure why people can’t leave shit well and good alone! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Jellyfin isn't a company or product. We're a volunteer only free and open source project. Just to make that clear. We're not forcing you to do anything, you can run older versions if you want. But we're not going to support older versions through the official install methods, because doing so isn't feasible in terms of the work required, and devices with app stores especially don't tend to support this. Running old versions of the server also potentially puts you at risk of security issues of which there are a non-zero number if you expose it to the internet.

I definitely understand the frustration. Personally, I value stability of my systems Above All Else and by that I mean things not changing. But the software moves forward all the time, there's new features and such that require updates, and after enough time clients simply cannot keep old compatibility while still moving forward with those new features. 10.8 is two major versions old and there is a lot that has changed in the meantime, and a lot more will change with the next release due out in about a month.

And just on that last sentence, there is quite a lot broken which is why we keep fixing things. You may not see it but plenty of people do ;-)

The issue is that you need to mount the /config folder to be outside the container.

As the name implies, a container holds all relevant data for a service.
If you delete the container, you delete everything associated with it since all of that is inside of it.

Docker lets you host mount external directories outside of the container, and makes it accessible from the inside.
On a new install, you just need to set a host mount linked to /config on the inside.
Then when you build and start the container for the first time, it will populate all necessary things to wherever on your system you linked /config to.

Whenever you need to update containers, you simply link the place where your previous /config folder was mounted on.

Keep a mental note that updating Docker containers is not like updating regular programs.
You always need to make a new container and delete the old one. There's no way to update the image of an existing container, so you always have to start fresh for a new image version.
Host mounts lets you carry over content from past containers to newer ones as those remain after you delete a container.

Now it's all a big bunch of videos sorted by names. It's horrible. Is there a way to display with folders on thee Roku client, like it used to be... until yesterday? Thanks.

Anyone with the same issue or a solution? Is the feature just missing? Will it come back? Thanks for any feedback.

Howdy Nymbus, Can you post a screenshot of the screen you're referring to? I'm not understanding exactly what you mean.

Yeah, this is absolute bs. I’m maxed out on the supported operating system for my computer and there isn’t a stable release of Jellyfin they will work on it now. FREAKING THANK YOU! Now a perfectly fine system is completely useless unless I buy a new computer. F-ing hell. I hate technology.
